Published in Cancer Detection and Prevention 1993; 17(1). Use of strip biopsy in a case of early duodenal cancerDepartment of Gastroenterology, Kumamoto National Hospital, JapanIn a 67-year-old man referred for investigation of an abdominal mass, upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed a polypoid lesion with central depression in the duodenum . CT scans demonstrated a cystic lesion anterior to the pancreas. Biopsy of the duodenal lesion was suggestive of carcinoma. Accordingly a strip biopsy was performed and histological examination showed a tubular adenocarcinoma with invasion limited to the mucosa, indicating that complete resection had been achieved. Strip biopsy thus appears to be a safe and efficient method for managing early duodenal cancer. KEY WORDS: .
